Wissensbilanz Web application

Every state university in Austria must submit an annual ↗Wissensbilanz report to the Federal Ministry of Education. This report consists of three parts and covers the intellectual assets, performance and output of each university. We helped to digitize part 1 (Leistungsbericht) and part 3 (LV-Monitoring) of this governmental tool in the form of a state-of-the-art web application.

For part 1 of the wissensbilanz we developed an online text editor application that offers advanced options such as footnotes, comments and revisions.

Part 3 of the Wissensbilanz contains an agreement between the university and the Federal Ministry on the plans and objectives of each university. In order to record and subsequently evaluate the agreed key figures, we have designed and developed an UI that makes this process as intuitive as possible while still following the legal requirements.

In addition to the UI and technical challenges, the project required a deep understanding of all the formal and informal steps. These steps include collaboration among university staff to create the reports, as well as multi-step approval processes for submission. For the ministry of eduction, we had to consider the fact that many different departments would need access to very specific parts of the reports to enable more efficient use of the information provided by the universities.

We are pleased to have partnered with ↗TechTalk to provide an online tool that makes it easier and faster to submit information to the Ministry of Education, Science and Research. In this way, we have helped the Universities significantly advance the process of digitalization.
